OpenAI's new small-business AI push skips construction software — here's what's actually usable

If your firm already runs QuickBooks or QuickBooks Contractor, this is worth a look once your plan tier gets access — but scope the pilot to back-office paperwork, not project data. Before connecting any agentic tool to your accounting system, check who else on your team can see or trigger what it does; a multi-step agent with write access to invoices and Slack is a new permission surface for a company that likely has no dedicated IT staff to monitor it. Start narrow: one admin, one workflow, two weeks, measured against how long that task took by hand. Don't connect it to anything that touches a client-facing document until you've watched it work on something that doesn't.
